The combination of Lindsey Vonn and Shaun White in primetime gave NBC a big night of Olympic ratings Wednesday, beating “American Idol” and FOX by a wide margin.

NBC drew 29.3 million viewers and a 16.7 rating/26 share in households in primetime, more than double the averages for No. 2 FOX (12.8 million, 7.4/11). The rest of the networks were in repeats, with CBS (6.9 million, 4.5/7) leading ABC (3.9 million, 2.6/4) and The CW (975,000, 0.7/1).

The story was pretty much the same in the adults 18-49 demographic, where NBC’s 8.9 beat the combined total of the other four networks. FOX scored a 4.5 to take second, followed by CBS, 1.8; ABC, 1.5; and The CW, 0.4.
